Dental assessment alongside surgical care
Hills Animal Hospital treats dogs and cats in Mulgeum-eup, Yangsan, Gyeongnam. Its clinical experience includes dental radiographs for a cat with bad breath and tooth problems, intestinal-obstruction surgery after repeated vomiting, and knee surgery for a dog lifting a hind leg.
Appointments are available for surgery only.
Repeat imaging informed surgery for intestinal obstruction
The patient operated on 12 October 2026 had repeatedly eaten and vomited pieces of toys. This time, refusal of food continued after vomiting. Hills performed radiographs and ultrasound and provided medical treatment. Two rounds of imaging and the clinical course led to a strong suspicion of intestinal obstruction and a decision to operate.
Surgery found an object blocking the small intestine. The clinician opened the intestine, removed the material and closed the incision. The material was suspected to be stuffing. The patient received fluids during a three-day admission before discharge.
Dental radiographs guided treatment of a cat’s resorptive lesions
A four-year-old Korean Shorthair seen on 13 October 2026 attended for scaling because of bad breath. After pre-anaesthetic blood testing, oral examination found a bleeding tooth and prompted dental radiographs. These identified tooth resorption, in which tooth tissue is lost and damaged.
Following scaling, some affected teeth were extracted, while teeth with more advanced lesions had their crowns, the upper part of the tooth, removed. Treatment was selected from the dental findings and radiographs as well as the visible tartar.
The kneecap groove was reshaped in a dog’s knee operation
A five-year-old Poodle operated on 12 October 2026 had intermittently lifted a hind leg for one or two months, with episodes becoming more frequent. Radiographs identified patellar luxation, in which the kneecap moves out of its normal position.
Hills deepened the trochlear groove, the channel in which the kneecap sits.
